Brush Calligraphy Upstrokes. Thin upstrokes in brush pen calligraphy is the opposite. Make your brush calligraphy strokes thinner by trying different brush pens holding your pen at an angle and breaking down your strokes.
Hold your pen at a 45 degree angle to the paper i e not too upright make your downstrokes thick by applying more pressure. The stark contrast between the two strokes makes calligraphy pieces more interesting. I ll demonstrate this in a video below.
